| Dubrovnik
Only a handful of cities throughout the world can claim to have an ideal larger than themselves and Dubrovnik is one of them.
The thick stone walls, have protected the city for 7 centuries against assault, proclaim invincibility in the face of aggression. The wide marble street Placa lined with businesses, cafes, restaurants, churches, boutiques and palaces, encourage the fusion of commerce, pleasure and faith into a vibrant community life.
For those who saw the shelling of Dubrovnik on TV in 1991 here's some good news, the city is still well and truly there, as beautiful as ever with few visible reminders of it's recent traumas.
So much to see and do here's our 8 highlights:
1) Take a walk on top of Dubrovnik's walls
2) Watch the world go by from a café or bar on Placa
3) Cycle through the forests on Mljet Island
4) Kayak or canoe on Mljets lakes
5) Sample the white wines of Lumbarda
6) Bask on the beaches of Orebic
7) Approach Korcula by boat
8) Feast on the local seafood in Ston
