| Islands
With over 2000 Islands just off the mainland, it would be impossible to describe them all. Here’s a quick insight into our 4 favourites.
Cres
Cres is a long thin island that stretches 68km from tip to tip. About half the island is covered with fields and rocks with large pine and oak forests in the north. Criss crossed with biking and walking trails leading you away from the busier Cres Town it is possible to find your own peace of heaven amongst one of it's pristine beaches.
Krk
This is Croatia's largest island 409km² it is also one of the busiest in the summer as Italians, Germans and Austrians alike stream over the Krk Bridge to its holiday houses, camps and hotels. It may not be the lushest or most beautiful of the islands, but decades of experience in tourism as well as it's beaches coves and inlets make it a simple and very pleasant place to visit particularly out of the main season.
Korcula is made of stone and it is the native home of the world famous traveller and researcher Marko Polo. It is known for its picturesque squares and its medieval atmosphere, it is nicknamed "little Dubrovnik". The beaches in Korcula are mostly made of pebbles and stones, however never to far away you can find a beautifully long sandy beach. It can offer a very relaxing holiday for couples alike athough quite tastefully at night certain parts can come alive giving a real part atmosphere.
Hvar
Known as the 'Croatian Madeira', Hvar receives a total of 2724 hours of sunshine a year, boasting the finest weather in Croatia. The island is luxuriously green with brilliant fields of lavender, rosemary and heather. Restaurants, bars and tasteful nightclubs give the island a really trendy but chilled feel. Some fantastic sunbathing and swimming spots as well as the opportunity to do a little island hopping means this is our favourite spot in Croatia outside of Istria.
